KTMF protests in support of Art 35-A
Srinagar, Aug 28 : In view of the hearing of Article 35-A case on Aug 31, Kashmir Traders Manufacturing federation (KTMF) led by Bashir Ahmad Rather on Tuesday staged a protest in support of the Article 35-A.
According to the KPS, scores of members from KTMF and Iqbal Market traders assembled at Iqbal Market here at Eidgah and shouted slogans in favour of Article 35-A.
The protesting traders demanded the petition filed before the top court of India must be dismissed so that the identity of Jammu and Kashmir be safeguarded.
“There was no question of allowing any fiddling with Article 35-A. We won’t allow the veil design to remove the State subject law here and we are ready protect the constitution with our blood,” President KTMF, Bashir Ahmad Rather said.
He said that the protests against the petition filed before SC, seeking revocation of Article 35-A will continue until and unless the top court of India will dismiss the petitions.
Rather added that they extend their full support to the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) programme. “We want that next hearing scheduled on Aug 31must not be deferred but the petitions should be dismissed so that the chaos being witnessed in the Valley will also come to an end,” he said.
He also said that deferring the hearings have resulted in immense loss to trade community while as the education of students got also hit.
It is worth to mention here that the SC is scheduled to hear a bunch of petitions on Friday.
In view of hearing of the case, JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik called for a two-day shutdown, starting from Aug 30, asking people to continue their protest for the protection of the law.
