Srinagar, Sep 10 : Unidentified gunmen shot dead a man at Bari Nambal, Babadam area of Khaniyar in Srinagar district late on Monday evening.
Official sources said that the man, identified as Abdul Ahad Ganie, a resident of Sheikhpora, Lalpora, Kupwara, was killed in his vehicle (DL3C AY-6532). They said that he was probably shot dead from point-blank range and weapon used was likely a pistol.
Sources said that the slain was putting up in Srinagar from last ten years and was arrested by SOG Srinagar for some time during 2016. His wife is said to be from Khanyar and works in Kashmir University.
SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray also confirmed the incident and said that investigations have been launched into the killing.
“He said that the body has been taken for postmortem and would be handed over to the family for last rites,” SSP said. (GNS)
