Tourist sites in Purba Bardhaman to be renovated
Kolkata, Sep 15 : The State Tourism Department has decided to convert two popular pilgrimage sites and two freedom fighters’ houses in Purba Bardhaman district into tourist spots.
These four sites have already been declared as heritage sites by the State Government. Rs 5.13 crore has been granted for the four places together.
The works are in various stages of completion, a Tourism department official on Saturday said.
The two pilgrimage sites are Sarbamangala Temple in Bardhaman town and Attahash Satipeeth in Ketugram.
Rs 1.74 crore and Rs 1.97 crore respectively have been granted for renovating the sites.
The other two sites are the birthplaces of the martyr Batukeswar Dutta in the village of Oari in Khandaghosh block and of Rashbehari Bose in Subaldaha village in Raina block.
For renovating the houses and setting up a museum and a library at each of these two sites, Rs 85 lakh and Rs 57 lakh respectively have been granted.
