Police foil teachers’ Raj Bhawan march in Srinagar

Srinagar: Police on Sunday used force to thwart teachers’ march towards Governor Satya Pal Malik’s official residence Raj Bhawan here.
Hundreds of teachers had assembled at Partap Park Srinagar under the banner of JK Teachers Forum and were protesting against government’s failure to implement 7th pay commission for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and head teachers in schools.
The protesting teachers also demanding de-linking of their salary from MHRD funds.
As the protesting teachers began to march on MA road in protest, police deployed at the spot swung into action and dispersed the protesting teachers by using colored water cannon on them.
Also, dozens of protesting teachers including union leaders were bundled in a police vehicle and lodged at Kothi Bagh Police station.
