APHC (G) condemns arrest of its chief spokesperson

Geelani condoles demise of mother of Prof Shawl

Srinagar, Sep 26: (GNS) All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) has condemned the arrest of amalgam’s chief spokesperson Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and termed his arrest as “an act of sheer vengeance”.

The amalgam also expressed anguish over the “rampant use of police force, which curbs the civil liberty of the detained person without any legal trail and justification”.

APHC (G) in a statement issued to GNS regretted that “freedom of expression is a distant dream in Jammu and Kashmir under the prevailing martial law like situation where people get killed, maimed and incarcerated on one pretext or the other”.

“Under well thought out plans, the administration is creating a scare and appalling situation in nook and corner of the state and harassing people to ensure their participation in upcoming so-called elections,” it said.

Meanwhile, APHC (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has expressed deep grief over the demise of mother of Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl and Farooq Ahmad Shawl and extended heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.

Geelani in a statement prayed for heavenly abode for the deceased and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. (GNS)
