DGP J&K visits frontier district of Kupwara
Interacts with Public at Tangdhar, Police jawans,officers at Sogam
Directs officers to ensure appropriate security arrangements for peaceful conduct of upcoming Panchayat polls
Srinagar, October 27 (PR): Director General of Police Dilbag Singh-IPS accompanied by IGP Kashmir S.P. Pani-IPS and DIG North Kashmir Shri Atul Goyal-IPS today visited Lolab and Tangdhar in the frontier district Kupwara. During his visit the DGP interacted with public at a meeting at Tangdhar, met Police personnel at Sogam and chaired joint security review meeting in Baramulla.
While visiting Lolab, where DGP interacted with jawans and officers of police and CRPF. SSP Kupwara Shriram Dinkar gave a brief about the functioning and work of the district.
Interacting with Jawans and Officers, the DGP appreciated efforts of police, CAPFs and army for dealing the law and order situation effectively. He said that the attempts of anti-social elements were foiled because of the professionalism displayed by the forces.
Referring to the welfare measures, DGP said that welfare of Jawans has remained on top of our agenda and the department. With the support of the State and Central Governments various welfare initiatives were taken for benefit of the serving personnel and the families of martyrs. He said that efforts are being made to address the other pending issues related to the welfare of the police personnel.

DGP said that during past one month over Rupees three crores have been released as cash rewards for officers and jawans who have displayed outstanding performance in different capacities. He also handed over a cheque to SHO Police Station Sogam with the directions to organise Bada Khana for the Jawans.
Dilbag Singh later on addressed public darbar at Tangdhar in which large number of people particularly the respectable citizens of the area participated. Speaking on the occasion, DGP said that people of Tangdhar are peace loving people and never supported any unlawful activity disrupting peace and order in the area. He sought co-operation of the people for eradicating drugs addiction saying that its effects are horrific on the society.
During his meetings with army officers including Commander 8 Sector Brigadier Mohit Trivedi, and Commander 104 Mountain Brigadier P. K. Mishra, the DGP discussed the security scenario of Lolab bowl and also the measures put in place at anti infiltration grid to foil the infiltration bids on the line of Control in the district.
During the review meeting at Baramulla, the DGP while commending all the forces for peaceful urban local bodies elections directed the officers to ensure that the appropriate security arrangements are in place for peaceful conduct of upcoming Panchayat polls.
He expressed optimism that the police along with others forces will attain the goal of providing the conducive security environment for the upcoming elections. Singh stressed for continuous coordination among the security agencies to keep peace and order maintained. He appreciated the strategy followed by the forces to deal with the militancy in the state which resulted in successes.
The joint review meeting held at Baramulla was attended by DIG CRPF North Rajesh Yadav and Commanding officers of CRPF deployed in Baramulla. SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain gave a brief regarding the measures taken on different fronts.
