Poonch, Oct 27 : Authorities in Poonch suspended a ‘Lumberdar’ for spreading a video against MR vaccine in the mountainous district.
The lumberdar, however, Mohammad Arif Pathan of Sandot Balakote, however, denied having uploaded any video and instead urged health authorities to create awareness for a successful campaign for the vaccination.
“Whereas, Chief Medical Officer, Poonch vide his letter number CMO/P/2074-77 dated 25/10/2018 reported that Mohd Araf Pathan, Lumerdar of village Sandote, tehsil Balakote has uploaded a video on public domain regarding anti-MR campaign and trying to communalize the society by spreading the panic among the general public by such baseless video without any verification and proof,” reads a letter by Deputy Commissioner Poonch.
“Whereas the above-said person is holding a responsible post of Lumerdar of village Sandote and is on government pay roll; Therefore in view of allegations and pending enquiry Mohd Araf Pathan, Lumerdar of village Sandote, tehsil Balakote is placed under suspension with immediate effect,” the DC said.
Meanwhile, Tehsildar Balakote appointed as enquiry officer who shall submit a detailed factual report into the matter within seven days.
The Lumberdar said that the health team should create awareness about the advantages of the vaccine. “I did not upload any video as has been alleged against me,” he said.
