Coalition has delivered: Cong on results of Karnataka bypolls
New Delhi, Nov 6: Hailing the gains made by the ruling Congress and JD (S) coalition in the Assembly and the Lok Sabha bypolls in Karnataka, the party on Tuesday said the results show that the collation has delivered.
In a post on social media, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram said, ‘4-1 result (unsure about Shimoga LS) in Karnataka looks like a Test series win under Virat Kohli. Coalition has delivered.’
Candidates of the Congress-JD(S) won four out of the five seats, which went for the bypolls.
While Congress candidate V S Urgappa won the Bellary Lok Sabha by-election, JD(S) candidate L Shivarame Gowda emerged victorious in the Mandya Lok Sabha by-election and Anitha Kumaraswamy of JD(S) won the Ramanagara Assembly by-election.
Anand Nyamagouda of Congress won the Jamakhandi Assembly by-election.
BJP candidate B Y Raghavendra defeated his rival Madhu Bangarappa of JD(S) by a margin of 52,148 votes in Shivamogga Lok Sabha by-election.
