Fruit growers from south Kashmir stage protest, demand loan waiver, crop insurance

Srinagar: Fruit Growers from south Kashmir on Saturday held a demonstration here demanding Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loan waiver and implementation of crop insurance scheme in the Valley.

Under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Tehreek, scores of fruit growers from south Kashmir assembled here at Pratap Park and staged a demonstration. The protesters chanting slogans “We want compensation,” said that they have suffered huge losses due to the recent snowfall.

General Secretary of Kissan Tehreek, Ghulam Nabi Malik said that state government has failed to implement crop insurance schemes in Kashmir valley while it was successfully implemented in the Jammu region.

“We demand implementation of crop insurance scheme and waiver of KCC loans,” he said.
