Kashmir: 2 brothers of woman held with 20 grenades arrested from Srinagar outskirts
Srinagar: Government forces have arrested two brothers of the woman who was arrested yesterday along with 20 grenades from Srinagar outskirts.
Sources said that the government forces raided the residence of the woman at Ganaie Mohalla in Khunmoh on Srinagar city outskirts late last night and apprehended the brother duo of the woman who has been identified as Asiya Jan.
A police officer confirmed that the two brother’s of Asiya have been detained by forces for questioning at Khanmoh on Tuesday night. The arrested brothers have been identified as Hilal Ahmad and Mohammad Iqbal.
Pertinently, Asiya is a daughter of a former slain militant Abdul Rehman Malik.
Police on Tuesday said that it arrested Asiya along with 20 grenades from Lawaypora area in outskirts of Srinagar city.
“Today (Tuesday) evening upon receipt of reliable information that some OGW is coming from Baramulla towards Srinagar with ammunition, a naka was laid opposite Kirmaniabad shrine near Lawaypora,” a police officer said.
In the meantime, a Golden colored Chevrolet Tavera car (JK01M-0056) was stopped for checking. Aboard it was a woman. She was searched by lady police personnel present at the naka, he said.
A bag in her possession was searched from which 20 grenades along with a large cache of ammunition were recovered, he said.
The vehicle and the bag containing grenades have been seized and the woman has been detained and taken to women’s Police station for further questioning, he added.
