Semi Ring Road: Land owners protest in Srinagar against NHAI, DC’s
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Semi Ring Road Land Owners Welfare Committee on Monday held a protest demonstration in Press enclave Srinagar demanding rehabilitation and compensation of their land.
The farmers of various districts of Kashmir valley assembled in press enclave under the banner “Semi Ring Land owners Welfare Committee” and chanted slogans against the Deputy commissioners of Srinagar, Budgam and Pulwama.
The protesters carried placards and banners reading: “Our Land is far better than UP and Bihar” ” Ring Road Destroying our Future” and ” Don’t snatch our livelihood”.
The protesters demanded compensation from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for their land four times extra than market rate.
“The NHAI is doing injustices to farmers and Landowners of Jammu and Kashmir by paying less compensation to our lands,” said Gulzar Ahmad Rather, one of the farmers from Budgam .
“We want four times extra compensation from the market” he said.
The Alternative road link will connect Pampore highway with Manigam and Ganderbal district through Wathoora Chadoora, Budgam, Soibugh and Narbal.
