Heavy snowfall forces closure of Leh-Srinagar highway, Mughal road open for one-way traffic

Srinagar: The 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway was closed again on Monday due to fresh snowfall, while the Srinagar-Jammu highway and historic Mughal road are through for one-way traffic only.

Officials said that there was fresh snowfall on Sunday afternoon on the Leh-Srinagar highway at Zojilla.

They said due to the accumulation of snow, the road has also become slippery due to which traffic has been suspended as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, only one-way traffic was being allowed on Kashmir highway.

Similarly, the 86-km-long historic Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region was also open for only one-way.
