Srinagar : Four militants and a Para commando has been killed in an ongoing encounter between militants and goverment forces in Nadigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district no Tuesday morning, official sources said.
Reports reached to VMS that a Joint team of army’s 34RR, 23 PARA and SOG Shopian launched (CASO) in Nadigam village of Shopain after having input about presence of some militants in the area. The hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering a gunfight.
Reportedly four militants and one Para commando has been killed, one Para Commando also critical and three soldiers were also wounded identified as Sepoy Shailender Singh of 34 RR, Lance Naik Somveer of 23 PARA and Havaldar Bhupinder Singh of 23 PARA in ongoing operation at Nadigam, sources told Valley Media Service.
Search operation is underway as some militants are still believed to be trapped. More details to follow, sources added.(VMS)
