Srinagar : Six militants were killed in an ongoing operation in Sekipora area of Bijbhera in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports reached to VMS that a joint team of army’s 3RR and SOG Anantnag launched a cordon and search operation before dawn in Sekipora following inputs about the presence of militants.
As soon as the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
“Six militants killed during fierce gunfight, arms & ammunition, Operation in progress,” Srinagar based defence spokesman Rajesh Kalia told Valley Media Service.
Meanwhile, sources told VMS that “bodies of 6 militants retrieved along with arms & ammunition and their identification to be ascertained. Operation still going on.” (VMS)
