Pak invites Sushma, Capt Amarinder & Sidhu for ‘ground breaking’ function at Kartarpur

Islamabad, Nov 24 :Pakistan on Saturday invited External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at Kartarpur in Pakistan.
“On behalf of Pakistan I have extended an invitation to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at Kartarpura on 28 Nov, 2018,” Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi tweeted.
The Pakistan Foreign Minister has announced on Thursday that Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan will ‘break ground’ at Kartarpura facilities on November 28.
“We welcome the Sikh community to Pakistan for this auspicious occasion,” he had said.
Meanwhile in Delhi, the Indian cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi also decided that India will build and develop the corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district to the International Border to facilitate Sikh pilgrims visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur on the banks of the Ravi river in Pakistan.
“Kartarpur corridor project, with all modern amenities and facilities, to be implemented with Central Government funding,” Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said in a series of tweets.
Kartarpur Sahib is the final resting place of Guru Nanak Devji, the founder of Sikhism, and one of the holiest shrines of the Sikhs.
In related developments on Friday late evening, Prime Minister Modi termed the building of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor as a momentous decision and compared it as similar to the collapse of the Berlin wall.
Speaking at a Gurpurab celebration function at the residence of Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Delhi, Mr Modi has said: “Kisne socha that ki Berlin ki deewar gir sakti hai. Shayad Guru Nanak Dev Ji ke aashirwad se Kartarpur ka corridor sirf corrdior nahi, jan jan ko jodne ka bahut bada karan ban sakta hai.”(‘Who thought Berlin Wall could have been brought down. Maybe, with the blessings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Kartarpur corridor will not only be a corridor but can become a reason behind a greater bonding of people).’
