Hakeem Yaseen condemns HRD Ministry for withdrawing Kashmiri language from ‘Bhasha Sangam’
Srinagar, Dec 08 Chairman PDF Hakeem Yaseen has strongly condemned the Union Human Resource Development Ministry for withdrawing Kashmiri translations from its language promotion portal “Bhasha Sangam” adding that the move has hurt the sentiments of all Kashmiri’s.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hakeem Yaseen has said that Kashmiri culture and language is dearer to the majority of the people of the state adding that the decision of the HRD ministry to withdraw Kashmiri language from the Bhasha Sangam unilaterally was most shocking and deplorable. He said HRD ministry should have not acted on the presumptions of a handful of communal minded Kashmiri Pandits whose only motto has been to play with the sentiments of the common Kashmiri people on one pretext or the other and create mistrust among the people of the country against majority population of the state on communal lines.
While demanding for revocation of the unilateral decision, Hakeem Yaseen has urged the concerned authorities in the Union HRD ministry to consult prominent writers and historians on Kashmiri culture, literature and language to clear misgivings created by a few communal minded migrant Kashmiri Pandits. He said questions about the script of Kashmiri language have been raised earlier also which were mutually and amicably resolved by the language experts and writers from both Kashmiri Muslim and Pandit communities after which the existing Kashmiri script in vogue was adopted which is now used by the university of Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir academy of art, culture and languages, Northern Regional Languages center, Patiala, Sahatya academy and other cultural forays of the country.
PDF Chairman has appealed Kashmiri Pandit community in general and writers’ fraternity in particular to work towards removing mistrust and strengthening the bonds of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony among the two communities.
Maintaining that Kashmiri culture is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits, Hakeem Yaseen has said majority community was sincerely and eagerly waiting for their return to their homes and hearths.
He has also called for isolating all the elements in both the communities who are indulging in creating mistrust in them for their petty self interests.
