Srinagar, Dec 24,:-Land mafia is busy in illegal filling of state land behind the court complex at Batamaloo Srinagar.
Locals from Towheedabad Bemina and other areas alleged that certain vested interest elements with the blessings of some revenue staff are rampantly involved in encroaching upon the state land.
“The concerned tehsildar and other officials have turned a blind eye to the rampant violation. The state land comprising over 60 kanals are on the radar of land mafia. As the sun sets, a fleet of tippers arrive in the area for land filling purpose. The filling process runs throughout night,” the locals told news agency CNS.
The locals said that they had demanded that the a sports field or a community hall should be set up on the land, but their pleas go unheard. They said that some official who are hand in glove with land mafia are facilitating the grabbing process. “A known land grabber is behind all this. We were shocked to see how police released his seized JCB within no time. He is very influential and wants to grab these 60 kanals of state land,” they said.
Even Divisional Commissioner Kashmir had directed concerned authorities to initiate action against the goons but so far nothing has been done as the illegal land filling is under process.
