Illegal constructions galore in area
Srinagar: A prominent residential colony in the upper town of Srinagar city is coming up with flouting all norms set up by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).
According to reports, a house over which high tension wire is plying is under construction has flown all the rules and regulation and not only this, the violator has occupied the main road to the Majeed Bagh area of Sanat Nagar in Srinagar district and which is a custodian land.
As per the new guidelines, construction of the third floor is not allowed in commercial buildings in residential areas but the residents said the new structures have been raised upto the seventh floor, said an official of SMC.
He said most of the buildings have been constructed in violation of the building laws and regulations. “The people have started encroachment and have blocked the road by dumping construction material,” a local resident whishing not to be named said.
He said, “Despite being VIP colony no one is bother to remove these encroachments. No one has till date asked concerned violator to remove construction material from the main road.”
The inhabitants have alleged that some influential people have greased the palms of SMC officers to remain silent over the complaints which is causing daily inconvenience to them.
The residents have appealed SMC Commissioner to look into the matter on urgent basis and readdress the problems faced by the people living in the area.
