Nowgam Kothar residents stages protest to demand degree college
SRINAGAR, JAN 21 : Residents of Nowgam Kothar village of tehsil Shangus of south Kashmir’s Anantnag Monday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar demanding Degree College for the area.
Scores of protesters assembled in press enclave chanting slogans demanding Degree College.
Ghulam Mohammad Wani, one of the protesters said: “We have already given 70 kanals of land free of cost to the government for the construction of degree college but have received a cold response so far.”
He said that the government has recently passed an order for creation of 40 degree colleges throughout the state but unfortunately our area has not been mentioned.
“Our village is in central and connects more than 20 other villages. The preference should be given to our village,” he said.
