Exclusive Video | 3 killed as avalanche as strike Pahalgam’s Gudkhamb point

Anantnag, Feb 1: Three persons were killed after swept away by an avalanche near Gudkhamb point at Aru in Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.

Official sources said that during snow clearance on Pahalgam -Aru road, the JCB with three persons on board it came under an avalanche near Gudkhamb point.

 

Sources told GNS that one person namely Javid Ahmad Sheikh who was retrieved in injured conditions and admitted to district hospital Anantnag. However, he succumbed to his injuries.  Bodies of two other missing persons were also retrieved by the rescuers.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan told GNS that soon after the avalanche struck the area, a rescue operation was launched by police, locals and revenue department. The rescue team cleared the debris and recovered the two bodies from under the snow, he added. (GNS)
