2016-17 annual report of Social Welfare Dept: Sajad Lone, Asiea Naqash reviews performance

Srinagar: Social Welfare deliberated various issues including achievements, pending financial assistance, annual performance of the Centres and the progress of various welfare schemes including Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships, Marriage Assistance and Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICPS) during this current Financial year 2016-17.

This Financial year,” Government gave Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarship of Forty Crore Sixty Seven Lac to One Lac Thirty Seven Thousand Eight Hundred students”. Marital Assistance of Forty Thousand was provided to Four Thousand Two Hundred Sixty Seven girls as Government has already announced to give Financial Assistance to Poor and Orphan girls. This committee works from DC Office of respective Districts in J&K, where DC himself looks for such Poor and orphan girls.

 

 

 

While reviewing the targets and achievements made during the current financial year, the Cabinet Minister Sajad Ghani Lone and MOS Asiea Naqash stressed upon the officers to concentrate their all efforts to improve the conditions and quality service of all the Centres run by the Social Welfare Board as the present Government under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti is committed for the upliftment of the women and the overall welfare and development of the children of the State. They said the main objective of launching these schemes is to improve the standard of living of the women folk and provide quality service in the remote and far flung areas.

Meanwhile, 515 posts of different categories have been advertised for Contractual appointment in ICPS. Land has also been acquired for construction of 2 old age Home with intake capacity of 150 inimates each at Srinagar/Jammu. Sixteen observation Homes have been sactioned by Government of India. One child Home Estabilished for children with special needs (PwD) at Barzulla. Three Chotha Tara Foundation Homes for special disabled children has also been Estabilished under ICPS. One Composite Regional Centre has been sanctioned and is being established in Jammu.

The J&K State Trust for Welfare of persons with the Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Rule, 2017 has been framed. During this Financial year 2016-17, Department has completed construction work of OBC Girls Hostel at IUST Campus Awantipora, Pulwama at an estimated cost of Rs. 664.85 lacs. The Hostel is physically complete.

Meanwhile, MOS Asiea Naqash Social Welfare Department as women provides easy helping hand to such drop out girls, destitute, poor, needy, widows and is making every effort to provide best possible assistance either in cash or through other ways like scholarships etc to uplift them especially the economically women community, thereby making them equal partners to the welfare dividends and ending their isolates.
