Train service resumes after day-long suspension due to security reasons

 

Srinagar, Feb 10: Train service was on Monday resumed after remaining suspended for a day due to security reasons in Kashmir valley.

A railway official told UNI that train service has been restored on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir track.

Similarly, he said train is running normally on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region track.

Train service was on Sunday suspended for security reasons in Kashmir valley, where life was crippled due to strike on the seventh death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, who was hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on this day in 2013.

After August 5, when centre scrapped Article 370 and 35 A besides divided the state into two Union Territories (UTs), train service remained suspended for security reasons for about 100 days.

Train service has become very popular in Kashmir valley as it is economical, safe and fast against other mode of transport available to people.
