Foreign envoys favour continuing dialogue with India on the situation in J&K

New Delhi, Feb. 14 : In the second initiative of ambassadors of 25 countries, many from the European Union (EU), who visited Jammu and Kashmir on February 12-13 to assess the ground situation there, have expressed the hope of continuing the dialogue with India on the situation in the region.
Ms. Virginie Battu-Henriksson, EU spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy who along with other envoys in New Delhi of EU member-States visited Srinagar and Jammu, said on Friday that the ambassadors looked forward to continuing the dialogue with India on the situation in the region.
She said the visit confirmed that the government has taken positive steps to restore normalcy. Some restrictions remain, notably on internet access and mobile services and some political leaders are still in detention.
“While we recognise the serious security concerns, it is important that the remaining restrictions be lifted swiftly. The visit presented a welcome opportunity to see the situation on the ground and to interact with local interlocutors,” the EU spokesperson said.
On their return to the Capital, the envoys were hosted by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval who interacted with them. (UNI)
