PM Lockdown extension, people say ‘was important to stop virus from spreading’
Srinagar, Apr 14 : As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday announced extension of the nationwide lockdown till May 3, people praised the move and called it necessary to stop the virus from spreading.
Reports said that millions of people across the country including in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir tuned in to watch Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation announcing an extension of the lockdown.
According to KINS, one of the Twitter handler took to his account and wrote “ It was necessary to further extend the lockdown by PM @narendramodi .We all need to fully support this #lockdown Inindia for our, our family’s n the country’s safety n well-being n to win this battle against #Covid”.
Another wrote on his FB account: “Extension in nationwide lockdown in India. Very much needed. Let’s defeat this virus. #Coronavirus Lockdown”
“This was really important to stop India from this deadly virus #CoronavirusLockdown” wrote other person on his FB account,
“21 days Lockdown all over India. Guys it’s hard to accept but we have no other go it’s regarding our life so please do stay at home it’s not only for your safety it’s also for others” reads the post of one of the Twitter account holder.
Though according to Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), some have questioned whether essential services will be available during this time. However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday made it clear that there is enough stock of food, medicines and other essential commodities and no one should worry for the extended period of lockdown.
In his fourth address to the nation during the last few weeks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the extension of the nationwide lockdown till May 3.
During his address he said the government will continuously evaluate steps taken by each district/ areas under police stations of how the strictly lockdown measures are being implemented.
Announcing a one-week strict observance, he said, during this time the measure of success in will determine relaxation especially how areas did not allow being turned into hotspots and controlled the situation in preventing any new case. Detailed guidelines in the regard will be issued by the Government on Wednesday.
Explaining how the Centre was always ahead in taking steps to prevent the spread of the virus and ahead of the curve, he said while comparisons with other countries should not be done but the rate of progression in India is far less than countries that have greater resources and better health infrastructure.(Agencies)
