PDP demands immediate release of Mian Qayoom
Srinagar: Expressing concern over his failing health amid coronavirus outbreak, senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Ex VC JK Cements, Er Nazir Ahmad Yatoo on Sunday demanded the release of incarcerated HC Bar Association president, Mian Qayoom.
In a statement issued here, senior PDP leader, Er Nazir Ahmad Yatoo said, “This is high time for authorities to play their role and urge the Government of India to release Senior Advocate who is detained under the lawless Public Safety Act.”
“Mian Qayoom is suffering from hypertension. His condition has deeply affected his family members, including his wife, who is also a diabetic,” Yatoo said.
Yatoo reiterated that, the health condition of Mian Quyoom, who is in his advanced age surviving on single kidney and 60% blockage in one of the arteries of heart, is more prone to the deadly virus.
Seeking the “immediate and unconditional” release of Mian Qayoom, Yatoo said his health situation is critical and deteriorating. He requires immediate, proper medical attention and the care of his loved ones.”
Yatoo said, Qayoom is known for his political views and has been a staunch critic of abrogation of Article-370 and Article 35-A.
Meanwhile, Er Nazir Yatoo demanded and stressed upon the concerned authorities to release immediately and unconditionally all political prisioners (booked under PSA since August 05), without fail of time,” added the statement.
