Srinagar, May 11, KNT: Tehsildar says he has other fishes to fry when asked miscreants have chopped down poplar trees worth lakhs during the dead of the night in the premises of De-watering Pump Station at Mujhgund area of Srinagar outskirts.
“Those who have any objection on cutting down of these trees can visit my office and file a written complaint. It is not a matter at all. There are so many other things and currently I am busy with Covid-19 pandamic,” Tehsildar Shalteng, Ishfaq Ahmed told KNT over phone.
Earlier, locals as well employees raised hue and cry when some miscreants allegedly affiliated with a political activist cut down many poplar trees during the dead of the night in the premises of De-watering Pump Station, controlled by Irrigation Division Sumbal.
Miscreants after chopping down these trees didn’t dare to lift them, after locals and employees raised clamor. Before they could stage a protest, Naib Tehsildar and a police party rushed to spot and assured locals of action against the culprits, but till date, nothing happened.
“We don’t know, who were responsible for the act and why they are being exposed. Trees which have been chopped down still lie in the premises of De-watering Pump Station,” the locals told KNT.
