JKCNGEEU Holds Protest In Srinagar

Srinagar : JKCNGEEU today held protest demonstrations at its district headquarters of the state of J&K in support of the ‘Nationwide Protest day’ call by the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) against the union government’s proposed Electricity-Amendment Bill, 2020 and privatization of Power Sector.
The protesting Employees and Workers were demanding immediate withdrawal of such orders and intentions by the Union Government, as the move is totally anti-people and anti-employee. State President Mohammad Afzal Bhat Fatehpuri said “the state government has first unbundled the JK Power Development Department into various corporations and now the entire privatization of PDD would be both anti-employee and anti-consumer move. The next step would be rise in tariffs and duty on electricity by private companies, who are none less than capitalistic exploiters bothered about their profit only. The consumer services will be badly affected due to handover of state establishments to corporate companies.
Thousands of daily wagers have been engaged with various government departments of the erstwhile State, and particularly about 8000 daily wagers are engaged with the power department only, who have been awaiting regularization and are unpaid for several months. These daily wagers are working tirelessly in every calamity or situation, especiallyin the current global pandemic COVID-19 situation. The state administration has time and again failed to provide a comprehensive policy to adjust these daily wagers in their respective departments as per government orders and SRO’s.
Instead of providing any relief and rehabilitation to millions of laborers, hit by the novel COVID-19 pandemic, the government of India is experimenting with the introduction of new laws and unnecessary changes to exploit the poor labor class only. This is a sheer attempt to loot the basic rights of these workers, who have been living in miserable conditions and poverty as we have seen throughout India.
JKCNGEEU has always stood against any move or decision that has been not in favor of the workers and employees but also for the public as well. We are all over protesting against these notorious and draconian laws being implemented to fill the pockets and profits of some corporate companies, who have already looted the public sphere, However we will leave no stone unturned and will remain fighting to safeguard our service rights and the consumer rights as well till our last breath. he concluded.
Earlier 22nd May 2020 a one-day protest program was held in support of the protest the call by the All India call of National Trade Unions and Federations, JKCNGEEU supported the call and organized protest programs at PDD complex Bemina Srinagar and Press Club Jammu.
