Govt will never compromise with national pride: Rajnath Singh
New Delhi, Jun 14 (UNI) In the wake of tensions between India and China escalated after Chinese troops moved into sensitive areas along the eastern Ladakh border, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that the government would never compromise with national pride and it will speak only at an appropriate time.
”The government will not keep anybody in dark. Whatever dispute has arisen between India and China, at this time the talks are going on at the military level. China has also expressed the desire that this should be resolved through discussion. Our efforts are also to resolve this through military and diplomatic discussion,” he said here while addressing a Jammu Jan Samvad virtual rally.
Stressing that India is progressing fast in defence segment, Mr Singh said, ”The strength of our air force will increase after inducting Rafale fighter aircraft, which will reach here in July. We do not want to increase strength to intimidate anyone. We are increasing strength for our safety only.”
Mr Singh said overcoming challenges is the the synonym of BJP, and the party has believed in fulfilling its promises.
”BJP is the name which overcomes challenges. In 1984, when we had got only two seats, political analysts started saying that the BJP would be finished. But our leaders at that time, Late Atal ji and Advani ji accepted this challenge and resolved to move ahead,” he said.
”From two seats in 1984, we formed the government second time and that also with full majority,” he maintained.
He said many developed countries of the world have collapsed due to corona pandedemic, but in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted the corona crisis as a challenge and took many big and important decisions.
The Defence Minister said Article 370 was also abrogated by the Modi government, adding that the work was completed as soon as the BJP got the opportunity.
He said, ”Some one has said ‘Dard kee raat gaee, gam ka khajaana bhee gaya, Modi tere himmat se ye daag puraana bhee gaya (Night of pain is gone, sorrows gone. Modi, with your courage, this old stain has also gone.”
Mr Singh said Mr Modi has spoken about self-reliant India. ”I want to assure you that the momentum and direction India is moving with, nothing in the world can stop India from becoming self-reliant in the next few years,” he maintained.
Taking potshots at Pakistan on its attempted overtures at the border, Mr Singh said, ”Today weather has changed, the inclusion of Muzaffarabad and Gilgit-Baltistan in the forecast has irked the neighbouring country.
”Unki shaharat ka moohtod jawab diya ja raha hai (A befitting reply is being given to their attempts)”
The Minister said development of Jammu and Kashmir is government’s priority.
Two central universities have given to Jammu and Kashmir, he said, adding that unprecedented developments are taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.
”There will be so much development in Jammu and Kashmir that Pakistan-administrate Kashmir (PaK) will be jealous and would like to shift with India,” he said.
He said Article 370 was a temporary provision in the Constitution but the Congress stuck to it and asked why did the principal Opposition party not made it permanent?
