Chinese soldiers have transgressed 18 km inside LAC: Congress

New Delhi, Jun 26 (UNI) Continuing its attack on the NDA government on the India-China border standoff, the Congress on Friday claimed that the Chinese soldiers have transgressed 18 kms inside LAC and asked the government whether the present situation at LAC was an intelligence or diplomatic failure.
Addressing a press conference along with AICC spokesperson Pawan Khera and former union minister for state and Congress leader Jitendra Singh, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister M M Pallam Raju said, ”As per ground reports, we’ve learnt that Chinese have transgressed 18 kms inside LAC, in the Depsang plains, upto Y-Junction, bottleneck.”
”As we learnt today the Chinese have now come to the Ladakhi town of Burtse, only 7 kms from
the DBO road. Their artillery is within 25 kms of strike range from the crucial airstrip of Daulat
Beg Oldie (DBO),” he said.
”We have learnt that we are not in a position to patrol the post that we did in Depsang plains. In 2013 too, the nation faced a similar threat in Depsang plains. After a 21-day face off, Chinese had to retreat and we ensured status quo ante was restored in the area,” the Congress leader said.
He said it is a big surprise and disappointment that the Chinese have been able to come in such a big way in the Depsang plains.
‘In light of this, we’d like to ask if the PM has been lying about the facts or whether it was an intelligence or diplomatic failure that we’re facing this threat now that we successfully repelled in 2013,” the Congress leader said.
The Congress leader said Satellite images show China has made fresh transgressions between June 6 and June 24 and occupied several new positions.
”In Galwan valley in the last couple of days, we are not able to go to PP-14 which was occupied by the Indian forces and again this is another unpleasant surprise,” he said.
”Similarly in Pangong Tso Lake area, between Finger 4 and Finger 8, we are unable to do our patrolling, it has been occupied by the Chinese,” the Congress leader said.
He said MEA briefing of 20th June clearly admitted to renewed Chinese aggression and all points occupied, in
contradiction to PM’s statement of June 19.
”It is important to keep the morale of our armed forces high and we stand by them. We have to ensure that status quo ante is restored to the original May 5th position from when it had first come to notice of our establishment,” he added.
