Govt restores security cover to Tanvir Sadiq
Srinagar, June 26: Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to restore security of “all the released politicians, who prior to August 5, 2019 enjoyed such security cover.”
The security cover of majority of the politicians after their incarceration was withdrawn.
Well placed sources told news agency KNT that government has started the process of restoring security cover to these politicians.
Sources said that government has now restored the security of National Conference leader and former political advisor to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Tanvir Sadiq.
Sources told KNT that Tanveer Sadiq who lives in Hasana Abad area of Rainawari Srinaga,has now been provided 3 PSO’s and 9 guards from C Company of IRP 8 Battalion.
There are reports that security of other politicians who have been facing house detention will be restored. Reports added that Government of India is actively considering restoration of the security cover to all such mainstream politicians irrespective of political ideologies such that any discrimination doesn’t take place so that they will help in starting political activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
After the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile state, the government had withdrawn security cover of around four dozen politicians most of whom were taken into custody. (KNT)
