Many stone crushers operate illegally in Ganderbal, DMO assures action

Ganderbal, June 29, KNT: District Administration Ganderbal has said that it will initiate action against those stone crushers that operate illegally in the district.

Reports said that there are various stone-crushers that operate illegally in some parts of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

District Mineral Officer Ganderbal, Engineer Manzoor Ahmed told news agency KNT that those crushers will be sealed without any delay that operates illegally in the district.
According to experts, the operation of illegal stone crushers can cause dramatic adverse effects for the environment, ranging from pollution to the area being rendered defenseless from earthquakes in the long term.

Locals told KNT that a stone-crusher in Arch area of district is running without any legal permission and no action is being initiated against the owner. The unit, proximal to residential areas, has been causing air and noise pollution.

A stone crusher plant usually cuts rocks into different sizes of stones, mostly used on construction sites. After cutting, the stones are loaded in trucks, causing a lot of dust. It has been proved in several circumstances that the stone crusher is among the biggest threats to environment.

DMO Ganderbal admitted that stone crushers are the source of pollution. He assured action against those persons who operate illegally in Ganderbal district. (KNT)
