Anantnag witnesses 90% recovery rate of COVID patients, Out of 635 positive cases, 571 discharged
Srinagar, June 29 : Despite an unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases, the rate of recovery from the deadly infection in Anantnag has improved to around 90 percent.
Anantnag district had the least recovery rate across Kashmir in April and May. However, there has been a sudden increase in recovery rate in June in this south Kashmir district.
The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has designated Trauma Hospital Bijbehara, NTPHC Akhoora, Government Degree College Khanabal, and Polytechnic College Larkipora Verinag as COVID hospitals.
An official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that 15544 samples have been taken in these centres of which 14065 have tested negative and 635 positive.
“So far, 571 patients who recovered fully have been discharged. This indicates, the recovery rate has been around 90 percent,” the official said.
The official said 456 were discharged till yesterday. “115 more including some CRPF persons were discharged today. This includes 111 from Degree College Khanabal and four at NTPHC Akhoora,” the official said.
At least 79 pregnant women have also been tested positive of which 71 have recovered. The district has witnessed six COVID deaths so far.
CMO Anantnag Dr Mukhtar said they provide all facilities to the patients. “All facilities are available there. Doctors are 24×7 available here. District administration is also providing meals and other facilities to patients,” he told KINS.
The Anantnag district had been under controversy after the death of three pregnant women.
Experts have been saying that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
Government advisory has exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing with soap and water.”
