‘Diktat’ of ACD Kupwara: Court summons top Govt officials after Tameel-i-Irshad approaches court
Kupwara, July 2, KNT: A local court here in Srinagar has issued a notice to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Chief Medical officer Kupwara and Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education besides Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara after ADC Kupwara issued a notice to Daily ‘Tameel-i-Irshad following the publishing of a news report regarding alleged misappropriation of funds in the office of CMO Kupwara.
Daily Tameel-i-Irshad, one of the leading Urdu Dailies of Valley in its 25th June edition carried a report regarding the alleged misuse and misappropriation of funds in the office of the Chief Medical Officer Kupwara. Following the News report Chief Medical Officer Kupwara got an notice issued to Daily Tameel-i-Irshad through Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and the Editor of the News Paper Mr. Akash Amin Bhat was asked to appear before the ADC on July 2, 2020.
In the meanwhile Daily Tameel-i-Irshad approached court of the Special Mobile Magistrate Srinagar with a prayer that the said news report was actually circulated by a local News gathering agency ‘KPS’ and was carried not only by Daily Tameel-i-Irshad but some other news papers as well but the CMO Concerned got the notice issued to only Daily Tameel-i-Irshad.
The learned Council for Daily Tameel-i-Irshad, Firdous Ahmad Bhat prayed to the court that the notice clearly indicates that the CMO Kupwara has some personal grudge with the News paper as the notice was issued only to Daily Tameel-i-Irshad not the other news papers which had carried the news report.
Advocate Firdous Ahmad bhat stated that the notice has been issued in a hurry without the application of mind as only two days were given to the Editor Tameel-i-Irshad for submitting the response to the notice which is a very short duration of time.
The court took cognizance of the issue and accepted the case for further hearing issuing notice to the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara,Chief Medical officer Kupwara and the Commissioner Secretary health and Medical Education Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir and asked all the parties to be either personally present on the next date of hearing or through their council and also submit a written response to the notice issued.
The case has been listed for next hearing on July 6.
