Salary: School demands attendance of lockdown period from drivers

Srinagar, July 6: Private schools that are demanding fee from parents during this Covid-19 crisis have now started threatening to terminate services of non-teaching staff.

This has come to light when over 30 drivers of a reputed private school ‘Iqbal Memorial Institute’ staged protest outside the school gate here in Bemina area of Srinagar city alleging that school management is denying salaries to them and has even threatened them to terminate their services if they raised any question.

The protesting drivers told news agency KNT that school management is behaving inhumanly with them.

“When we demand salaries, we are being asked to show the attendance of the lock-down period. Where from we will get the attendance when government had enforced lock-down in wake of Covid-19 pandemic,” they said.

An official declined to comment on the issue. (KNT)
