New Delhi: Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar today said that the incidents of stone pelting in the Kashmir had come down to a great extent as compared to the previous year.
‘With close co-ordination between the Jammu and Kashmir police, Army and CRPF, the problem of stone pelting has been contained to a great extent, as the number of incidents were brought down to 421 this year as compared to almost 1500 in the past year,’ the DG said.
The DG stressed on the fact that more emphasis was on maintaining restraint and using proper strategy, equipment and less lethal weaponry to control the violent mobs.
‘We are making use of advanced protective gear and different strategies resulting less collateral damage in such incidents,’ he said.
The combined efforts of the CRPF, state police and the armed forces, the law and order situation in the militancy affected state has been controlled to a great extent, the DG informed. (UNI)
