Block Divas, Mega Events held across district Kupwara

DDC askes officers to work on mission mode during Jan Abhiyan

KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 16: District Administration, Kupwara today organized 3 mega district level events and 24 Block Level events across the district where government functionaries remained available for public as a part of Jan Abhiyan to mark Block Divas/ Youm-e-Block.

The main mega Block Divas event was held at Environmental Hall, Handwara where District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ansul Garg along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Handwara, Dr. G V Sandeep; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir and District Officers remained available for the elected public representatives of Handwara, Rajwar,Ramhal, Langate, Mawar,Qaziabad and Nutnusa blocks.

Speaking at the occasion, the DDC said that the purpose behind holding Jan Abhiyan and Block Divas in the district is to strengthen gross root democracy by ensuring onspot redressal of grievances and service delivery at the door steps of the people. He said about 4 lakh people participated in the Back to Village (B2V) first programme in 385 Panchayats of the district and same enthusiasm was seen in B2V2 to register their grievance and demands. He said since Government has announced B2V3 from October 2, efforts have been taken to make the programme (B2V3) purely a people friendly, for which 21 day Jan Abhiyan and Block Divas have been launched. He said people through PRIs can themselves formulate a plan and utilize funds as per their requirements. The DDC advised PRIs to formulate plans in such a way that some block level infrastructure or facilities could be created or augmented. He gave the example of border Tangdar and Teetwal blocks, where public representatives pooled the amount of Rs.48 lakh for the augmentation of power and health sectors in the area.

Referring to the service delivery during the Jan Abhiyan Campaign, the DDC said that 50,000 Domicile certificates and 6000 PM Kisan cards have been issued to the beneficiaries. He directed concerned officers to work on mission mode and ensure that all needy could get benefits of the Abiyan.

The DDC said that minority scholarship has got 300 percent addition and there is no need of income certificate. He said during last year 1.50 lakh students got benefited from this scheme. He said 28000 new pension cases have been covered by Social welfare Department and registration for new cases is also done during the Awami Muhim.

Replying to PRIs regarding verification of ration cards, the DDC said that 90 percent ration cards have been linked with AADHAR and process for remaining 10 percent is going on and there would be simultaneous verification of the cards.

DDC asked Engineers of PHE to coordinate with PRIs in plan formulation of new schemes so that all areas and habitations could be covered under flag ship programme, Jal Jevan Mission.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, SSP Handwara, Chief Agriculture Officer and other officers spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, BDC Chairpersons of Handwara, Rajwar, Ramhal, Langate, Mawar, Qaziabad and Nutnusa blocks spoke and projected demands of concerned blocks.

Later the DDC distributed work orders among 11 fishermen for construction of their houses under Blue Revolution Scheme of Fisheries Department. These beneficiaries were selected yesterday through draw of lots at Kupwara.

Similar mega Block Divas event was held at Tourist Hut, Khumriyal where Additional District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sogam, Ajaz Ahmad, District officers remained available for the public.

Speaking at the occasion, the ADDC directed the concerned officers to resolve issues put forth by BDCs and PRIs while taking them on board. He asked the officers and BDCs to utilise this people friendly campaign Jan Abiyan in the best interest of people of rural and far flung areas.

On the occasion, various District and Sectoral Officers including SDM Lolab, ALC, DFO and other sectoral representatives spoke and provided awareness about various welfare schemes and programmes of their respective departments to the participants.

Block Development Chairpersons (BDC) of Wavoora and Kalaroos blocks also spoke on the occasion and put forth various issues and demands of their concerned areas before the officers.

` On the occasion cheques worth Rs. 21 lakh were distributed among 282 beneficiaries under Lower Education Assistance scheme by Labour Department.

Another mega Block Divas event was organized at Government Degree College, Kandi Karnah, where Sub Divisional Magistrate, Karnah, Dr. Bilal Mohiddin, Officers of the sub division remained available for the public and elected representatives of the Karnah subdivision.

Speaking on the occasion the SDM enlisted the activities carried out in the area during the Jan Abiyan. He directed Executive Engineer Special sub division Tanghar to ensure completion of primary Health Centre, Jaada within 15 days so that it can be commissioned during upcoming B2V3 programme.

On the occasion, BDC Chairpersons of block Tangdhar and Teetwal projected the demands of their blocks.
