Substandard material used in Sonpah-Dodhpathri road
Locals demand probe against the officials/persons involved
Srinagar, Sept 30: The villagers of Kandoora in central Kashmiri’s Budgam district have alleged that the road constructed from Sonpah to Dodhpathri, under Prime Minister’s Grameen Sorazgar Yojna (PMGSY) has not withstood for a period of even a month, due to the usage of substandard material.
A group of locals told news agency KDC that the recently constructed road from Sonpah to Dodhpathri has eroded in a months’ time, because substandard material was used in its construction.
They said, “Deep ditches and potholes have erupted, all along the stretch of the road, as the AEE concerned allowed the usage of substandard material in its construction.”
“Not only the road but the side walls constructed on it have come down, because the quantity of the material, sufficient enough, to hold the wall together, was not used according to the requirement,” they added.
Accusing the concerned AAE directly for the problem, they requested investigation agencies to probe the matter and take necessary action against the persons responsible for the response in the fraud regarding the construction of the poor conditioned road and sidewalls.
When KDC attempted to contact the AEE in question Jahangir Hakim, his phone was outside the coverage area. (KDC)
