KUWJ deeply mourns ‘Rising Kashmir’ journalist Javid Ahmad’s demise

Srinagar: We at Kashmir Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) deeply mourn the sad and sudden demise of ‘Rising Kashmir’ senior correspondent Javid Ahmad. We, like others in our fraternity, are heartbroken at this irreplaceable loss. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and we pray may his soul rest in eternal peace.

KUWJ president Yusuf Jameel recalled how Javid Ahmad had been helpful to fellow journalists at the Media Facilitation Centre set up by the J&K Directorate of Information of Public Relations in Srinagar post August 5, 2019. He said, “I spent some jolly moments with Javid Ahmad at the Media Facilitation Centre. He was very helpful too…would often offer his chair and internet/ hotspot connection to me on seeing me entering the crowded centre.”

Jameel added, “After seeing blood being shed around on a daily basis in the past over three decades, our hearts have turned into stones but I couldn’t hold back my tears for this gentle boy and buddy. People like him remain ‘javid’- undying and eternal- at least, in others’ hearts.”

KUWJ general secretary Innayat Jehangir added, “Javid Ahmad was an affable person and had done some wonderful work over the past few years. Sadly, a bright career was cut shot today.” He added, “We pray for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family for bearing this huge loss.”
