Remain extra vigilant, wear anti-riot gear while maintaining law & order: ADGP Armed to policemen

Srinagar, Oct 28 : Highlighting the necessity of remaining extra vigilant and wearing proper anti-riot gear while performing law and order duty, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed A K Choudhary on Wednesday stressed on further improving public-police relationship.

A police spokesperson said that Mr Choudhary on Wednesday conducted a darbar of JKAP 5th battalion and IRP 6th battalion jointly at Batmaloo Srinagar. “The darbar was aimed to hear the grievances of jawans besides taking the stock of their welfare and functioning of the units,” he said.

He said during darbar, the officers and jawans of the units put forth their personal as well as collective problems one by one before the ADGP. “The ADGP patiently listened to the grievances of jawans and officers and assured them that their problems falling within the competency of APHQ shall be examined at APHQ level itself and redressed on merit. The other issues shall however be taken up with Police Headquarters (PHQ) for appropriate action,” he added.

Addressing the officers and jawans on the occasion, the ADGP stressed upon the supervisory officers at unit, coy as well as platoon level to exercise proper control upon the men under their command and ensure that nothing wrong is allowed to go unnoticed.

The ADGP also advised the supervisory officers at all levels to patiently hear the grievances of their subordinates who so ever approaches them for redressal of their grievances and take appropriate action on genuine grievances put-forth before them by their subordinates.

Mr Choudhary advised the Commandants and Coy-Commanders not to deny the subordinates the permission to appear before senior officers for redressal of their grievances.

The ADGP also apprised the officers and men about the new policy to be introduced by the government regarding reviewing performance of work of the employees and advised them to work with dedication, sincerity and honesty at all level.

Highlighting the welfare measures being taken by the PHQ for its officers and jawans, the ADGP said that the promotion of eligible officers and men commensurate to the vacancies are being made continuously by the Armed Police Headquarters.

He laid emphasis on the prevailing security scenario and need for exercising extra alertness on the part of police personnel on their respective assignments. The ADGP stressed for ensuring round the clock foolproof security of the Unit/ Coy Hqrs. besides family quarters located in the premises of the unit complex.

The ADGP stressed for maintaining social distance, wearing mask and washing hands frequently in order to contain spread of Corona Virus. He advised the unit personnel to be health conscious.

The ADGP asked the jawans to maintain proper hygiene and keep themselves physically fit by doing the PT, Games, Yoga and Static exercises/ walk besides taking utmost care of the quality of food they take.
