Ganderbal: Municipal Sweepers’ strike continue since week
Ganderbal (KPS): The Ganderbal town has virtually turned into the garbage dump as all the Sweepers of Ganderbal Municipal Committee have gone on indefinite strike since week.
As per the shopkeepers of Ganderbal the Municipal committee Ganderbal seems to be least bothered over the sufferings of the general public and shopkeepers in Ganderbal town where garbage dumps in all the localities, roads have made the life of people hell. The roads of Ganderbal, are over flowing with the garbage and foul smell has added to the woes of the people and students, Zaffar Ullah Sheikh a shopkeeper said.
The passers, Degree college students and the shopkeepers are facing threat of various ailments with the foul smell and heaps of garbage lying nearby, making their life miserable,” Ajaz Ahamd Wani another shopkeeper said.
As per the shopkeepers the senior officers of the Municipal Committee, have failed to break the initiating dialogue with the agitating Sweepers who are on strike since last week.
As per the details available with Kashmir Age (KPS), The sweepers union strikes since week, these workers under the banner of Ganderbal Sweepers Union, continued their protest at Town Hall Complex Dudarhama. The agitating workers protesting against officials of Municipal Committee Ganderbal for including in favoritism. The Sweepers alleged that undue special treatment is been given to some sweepers, who are placed at their chosen places to evade doing job of Sweepers, the sweepers while protesting at Dudarhama were raising slogans in support of their demands.
We are nearly 75 Sweepers in Municipal department where only 35 sweepers working as clearing the Ganderbal town where more 30 workers live in cozy rooms with the officials of Municipal Committee in favoritism,” they alleged.
The Sweepers claimed that they would continue their strike till their demands are addressed by the Municipal Committee.
