Internet services yet to be restored in South Kashmir’s Pulwama
Srinagar, Jan 05: Internet users here in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district continue to face difficulties with back to back 2G internet suspension where 4G internet has yet to be restored after the Indian Parliament scrapped Article 370 and 35A last August.
Frequent internet suspensions in Pulwama are giving a tough time to the students, business owners and others who depend on it, and are unable to work or study whenever an internet blackout is imposed.
2g internet services still remain suspended in Pulwama district after 7 days of Srinagar gunfight. The internet services were snapped on Wednesday 30th of December 2020, when three alleged militants were killed in HMT gunfight turned out to be residents of Pulwama and Shopian. However authorities on Saturday evening restored the internet services in Shopian district.
While talking to news agency KDC, a student preparing for UG 6th semester examination said, “We are in distress, we had online classes, we need the internet to access the material on e-learning apps, with internet suspension it’s impossible for us to prepare and hence appear in the examination”.
“Our district has been witnessing maximum internet shutdowns, we request authorities to restore the services so that our preparation goes on smoothly,” he added.
The families of the slain have been in continuous demand of returning the bodies of their kin and have craved for a high level enquiry into the “alleged fake encounter” from the authorities.
Meanwhile, when KDC contacted SSP Pulwama Ashish Mishra for a quote, he after hearing the word internet disconnected the call without giving any proper reason for the shutdown of internet in southern Pulwama district. (KDC)
