DGP rewards policeman for thwarting weapon snatching bid in Kashmir
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir policeman, who foiled a weapon snatching bid by miscreants in central Kashmir district of Budgam on Monday, was today given a Commendation Certificate alongwith a reward of Rs 10,000.
An official spokesperson here today said that Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid accorded to the grant of Commendation Certificate Class -1st alongwith cash reward of Rs 10,000 to Selection Grade Constable Farooq Ahmed.
He said reward was given to Ahmad for showing presence of mind, exemplary courage and commitment towards his duties while repulsing the rifle snatching attempt by miscreants on August 7,2017 at J&K Bank Branch Charar-i-Sharief.
He said three unknown persons tried to snatch weapon from Ahmad, who was deployed as guard at J&K bank in Charar-i-Sharief.
“The vigilant policeman deployed at the bank foiled their attempt. The CCTV footage shows the exemplary valour exhibited by the policeman,” he said.
He said police has released the photographs of the three people involved in the weapon snatching bid and sought information about them.
