Badibera Bridge Along Kupwara-Lolab Made Through for Vehicular Traffic
Locals Hail Timely Action, Efforts of DC Kupwara
Kupwara, Apr 7: Authorities have on Wednesday afternoon allowed the movement of vehicular traffic through Badibera bridge after a week’s time. Traffic movement, as reported earlier, was suspended in wake of damage to one of the piers’ of the bridge in wake of flash floods last week.
The resumption of traffic movement was oversaw by SDM Sogam Aijaz Ahmad on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Imam-ud-Din.
When contacted SDM Sogam Aijaz Ahmad told GNS that “People from the respective field were roped in for a thorough assessment of the bridge on the directions received from Deputy Commissioner”, adding that “All directions by them were complied with over the week.”
“The traffic has only been restored after receiving the consent from the experts” the official said.
Meanwhile, locals across the terrain have hailed the ‘timely action’ and efforts of district administration for repairment of the bridge and restoration of vehicular movement in just a week’s time.
A senior citizen of Sogam said that “He (DC Kupwara) personally visited to enquire into the damage caused to bridge by the flashfloods on the very same day and assured us of an immediate follow-up.
“It is quite heartening that the bridge has been restored by the timely action and personal efforts of the district officer in a week”, he added. (GNS)
