Gunfight erupts in Shopian village in south Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Gunfight has erupted between militants and government forces in Awneera village of Kashmir’s Southern district of Shopian.

Reports said that 55 RR of Army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched cordon in the village over the specific intelligence of militant presence.

As forces zeroed in the area, reports said that militants opened fire on the forces resulting in Gunfight has erupted between militants and government forces in Awneera village of Kashmir’s Southern district of Shopian on Saturday.

Reports said that 55 RR of Army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched cordon in the village over the specific intelligence of militant presence.

As forces zeroed in the area, reports said that militants opened fire on the forces resulting in the gun battle.

Reports said that three militants, including a top Hizb commander, are believed to be trapped in the village.
