JKBOSE chairman attached on charges of corruption, misuse of position ,Veena Pandita to hold charge till appointment of new chairman

SRINAGAR: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Zahoor Ahmad Chatt has been attached to Higher Education department on charges of corruption, misuse of official position, sources said.
Sources told KPS that after it was found that the JKBOSE chairman has done corruption in printing and publication, misappropriation in funds related to text books and backdoor entries of technical staff and academic officers.
Sources added that the Chairman was removed immediately after the allegations against him were found worthy to investigate. Sources said that during his tenure frauds and corruption took root in JKBOSE.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 12 of the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education Act 1975 (Act No. XXVIII of 1975) and in supersession of notification SRO 236 of 2015 or any other notification issued on the subject, the Government hereby appoints Veena Pandita, secretary JK BOSE as In-charge chairperson JK BOSE with immediate effect till such time the government appoints a new chairperson,” reads the government order issued by secretary school education department.
In a separate order, the government has accorded sanction to the constitution of a search committee for the appointment of chairman BOSE.
The members of the committee include principal secretary higher education department, commissioner/secretary general administration department, secretary school education department, secretary department of law, justice and parliamentary affairs and former secretary BOSE Bashir Ahmad Dar.
“The search committee, which shall be serviced by the school education department, shall submit its panel of names to the government within one month,” reads the order.
Also, the government in exercise of the powers conferred by section 14 of the JK BOSE Act, 1975 (Act No: XXVIII of 1975), has appointed Veena Pandita as secretary BOSE for a period of one year.
“In supersession of all the previous notifications issued on the subject, the government hereby appoints Veena Pandita as secretary JK BOSE with immediate effect. Her term of appointment shall be for a period of one year from the date of issuance of this notification,” reads the order.
“As per the previous order, the appointment of Veena Pandita as secretary BOSE was coterminous with chairperson JKBOSE. As per previous notification, term of secretary BOSE ended today,” an official in school education department said.
Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt was appointed as chairman of Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) last year.
Prof. Chatt has headed prestigious higher education institutions of the state, including Govt SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, Islamia College of Science & Commerce, Srinagar, Govt. Degree College, Bemina, Govt. Degree College, Anantnag. (KPS)
