Youth stone police patrol in Pulwama villages
Srinagar: Scores of youth on Monday attacked a patrolling party of police at Kangan and Murran villages of restive Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
According to witnesses, a police party comprising of SDPO Pulwama and two other SHOs were patrolling Murran village of Pulwama when they came under heavy stone-pelting from youths while similar incident occurred at Kangan village.
Witnesses said police lobbed few teargas shells to disperse the angry youths and the situation in these two villages remained tense for several hours. Sources said ahead of by-polls on Anantnag parliamentary constituency on April 12, when Pulwama will also go for polling, police have decided to round up dozens of youth previously involved in stone pelting.
