India, Pakistani troops exchange mortar shelling in Poonch

Jammu: Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged mortar shelling and firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, sources said on Monday.

As per defence sources Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling and firing by automatic weapons along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting the Army to retaliate.

They said that there was unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army in Digwar sector of Poonch, using 82 mm mortars, automatic weapons.

Pertinently, after each and every firing incident along the LoC or International Border (IB), both India and Pakistan accuse each other of violating the ceasefire which is in place since 2003.
