FIR Registered Over Illegal Soil Excavation in Palhallan, Dumper Seized

Authorities in Baramulla district have taken swift action against illegal soil excavation in New Colony, Palhallan, with police registering FIR No. 93/2025 on Tuesday in response to violations of environmental and land use regulations.

The action follows reports of unauthorized excavation in the area, prompting a coordinated enforcement effort by the Department of Geology and Mining (DMO), Baramulla, and local revenue authorities. A raid was carried out on the same day by the DMO team, during which a dumper (JK02CS 3312) allegedly used for illegal soil transportation was seized.

Locals of New Colony, Palhallan, expressed their appreciation for the prompt intervention by DMO Baramulla, Naib Tehsildar Palhallan, and the DO Palhallan, who acted decisively to curb the illegal activity, including the reported encroachment on Gass Charai (community grazing land).

Further investigation is ongoing, and legal proceedings will be initiated against individuals found responsible for the violations.
