J&K HEALTH MINISTER SHOWING THUMB TO PRIME MINISTER

JAMMU : While the Modi Govt. at the centre claims zero tolerance towards corruption and nepotism in its working, the J&K health and medical education (HME) dept headed by a BJP minister has embarrassed the party high command by totally disrespecting the norms by nominating a junior dental surgeon as a member of the J&K State Dental Council. This has caused heartburning among senior doctors under whom the particular junior dentist was working.

The senior dental surgeons are annoyed over the whimsical functioning of health minister Bali Bhagat who has humiliated senior faculty by nominating a registrar to the council.

As per the Government order issued by the Department of Health & Medical Education, under Section-21 of the Dentists Act-1948, the Government has constituted the Jammu and Kashmir State Dental Council on June1.

In this order, along with seven senior members, a registrar working in the Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College (IGGDC), Jammu was nominated to JKSDC and the HoDs of various depts., Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Lecturers who are senior in hierarchy to registrar were ignored.

A senior doctor said they have no problem with the list of nominated members except this registrar because very senior people in the dental fraternity were ignored including HoDs, B-Grade specialists in the health dept, senior dental surgeons who have rendered more than 25 yrs of service in the health dept and deserving private practitioners of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that dentists are criticizing the move of the HME dept to nominate such a junior dentist who is on time bound post of registrar for three years to the JKSDC.

They also said that they will highlight this wrong nomination and nepotism to Prime Minister, Sh.Narendra Modi. They said that dentists of J&K want that the nomination list be modified and a deserving dentist shall be nominated in place of this blue-eyed registrar of the health minister.

It is pertinent to mention here that time and again the charges of nepotism and corruption have been levied on health and medical education dept of J&K, but the BJP leadership has turned blind eye towards such complaints.
