Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Meets CDS, 3 Service Chiefs Hours After Escalation By Pakistan
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level meeting with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and the three service chiefs in Delhi on Friday morning, following a series of missile and drone attacks launched by Pakistan targeting Indian military stations and cities.
The meeting aimed to assess the security situation and coordinate India's response to the escalating cross-border tensions.
The discussions focused on the recent escalation that began on April 22 with the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which India attributes to Pakistan-based militants. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Pakistan's Punjab province.
Pakistan responded with missile and drone attacks on Indian military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, as well as several cities in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Punjab. The Indian Army swiftly retaliated, effectively neutralizing the threats.
The meeting underscored India's commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, with a focus on a measured and targeted response to cross-border terrorism.
As tensions remain high, both nations continue to exchange accusations, with international observers urging for de-escalation and dialogue to prevent further conflict.
